Installation and configuration of the Google Channel on Shopify
IMPORTANT: Before starting, you should know that the Google Channel synchronises your whole catalogue with Google Merchant Center and, therefore, you should create an account on there to carry out the synchronisation successfully. If you haven’t done that yet, do it here.
Install the Google channel on your store from the Shopify apps store by following the steps below:
- In the store itself, search and add the Google channel from “Sales Channels” in the side menu.
2. Click on “Connect a Google account” and select yours.
3. Next, select the Merchant Center account you want to link.
You will need to verify that you are the account holder. Google will send you an SMS to check this.
4. Adjust the configuration of your product feed, selecting the target country and language that you want to sell your products in, as well as the shipping costs.
This configuration affects the way the products are displayed to users and is based on the language and currency configuration of your store.
5. Finally, click to accept the terms and conditions.
Once you have done all of this and completed the configuration of your Google channel on Shopify, the automatic synchronisation will start for all the available products from your catalogue. And you’re ready to go! With these simple steps, you can now launch your first Shopping campaign.
Step by step: how to create a Performance Max campaign (previously Google Shopping) from Shopify
Now you have everything configured, you can create a Google Performance Max campaign (previously smart shopping) from the Google channel on Shopify.
To do this, click on “Open Google Merchant Center”. Next, click on Merchant Center in “Create Campaign” and complete the details requested.
Once you have created your performance max campaign, you will need to manage it from Google Ads in order to optimise it and improve its results each day.
