Configuring payment methods in Shopify

In this article, we explain how to configure different payment methods in your Shopify store.

1. Configuring different payment methods

To configure different payment methods in your Shopify store, you need to go to the settings section located in the bottom left of the store’s home page.

Once in the Configuration section, enter the payments section . There, you can add different payment methods as well as activate external applications to customise the payment options.

Below, we explain which payment methods are available in Shopify and how to activate them.

1.1 Shopify Payments

Allows you to accept credit cards during the payment process. This option allows the customer to choose a payment method from the store checkout, as well as being compatible with other payment solutions, such as PayPal Express Checkout.

IMPORTANT:
We recommend not using Shopify Payment for dropshipping as it may cause infringements with brands or store products.

1.2 Permitted methods of payment

PayPal is one of the payment methods approved by Shopify. This method allows you to add the Checkout with PayPal button so that your customers’ orders can be placed from the PayPal platform.

1.3 Adding other payment methods

You can add other payment methods by searching for type of payment or provider. To configure a new payment method in the store, click on Add payment methods and choose the most suitable one for you.

1.4 Manual payments

You can configure manual payment methods for your online store such as, for example, a Bank transfer.  Remember that the Cash on delivery method is not available on BigBuy.

2.1 Amazon Pay

Amazon Pay is a quick, easy and reliable method for your customers to shop in your online store by using the payment and shipping information stored in their Amazon accounts.  

Depending on the store’s Shopify plan and the region, transactions processed through Amazon Pay may incur external transaction charges.

2.2 Stripe

Stripe is a payment platform for online commerce that enables payments to be made using cards, without having to contract the POS services of a bank.

When creating an account with Stripe, you need to provide a bank account number where money can be deposited automatically from the Stripe account.

To register for Stripe, visit the Stripe registration website and complete all the information requested.

2.3 Klarna

Klarna is a direct and secure payment method that offers various payment options for Shopify Payments. Klarna is only available for sellers in the following countries and regions:

  • Austria
  • Germany
  • Sweden

With payment in 30 days, Pay now and Pay in 3 Klarna instalments, your customers can choose to pay for their orders using various options. These different payment options allow customers to pay straight away, by invoice, or by instalments using a debit or credit card. Using Klarna in Shopify Payments provides your customers with a secure and easy payment experience.
